WW II Patriot Breakfast (Thursday, April 27, 9 AM):

A breakfast honoring the veterans of WW II will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 9 AM at Son-Rise Christian Church (673 Jump Road). The breakfast will be a tribute to America’s Greatest Generation. The breakfast program will include Louis Graziano (last living witness to the German surrender of WW II), Robert Boeke (WW II veteran) and Dorinda Nicholson (witness to the bombing of Pearl Harbor). Tickets are $25 per person and can be ordered online.

Walton Luncheon (Thursday, April 27, 12:30 PM):

The 1st annual Carolyn Grinnell Luncheon for fans of the Waltons television show. The late Carolyn Grinnell was the Founder and longtime President of the Waltons International Fan Club. Michael Learned (Olivia Walton, The Waltons) will give remarks at this luncheon and will be the first recipient of the Earl Hamner Legacy Award. The award will pay tribute to the 100th birthday of the creator of the long-running series. The luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 12:30 PM at Son-Rise Christian Church (673 Jump Road). Cherry Blossom Tea (Thursday, April 27, 2:30 PM):

The annual Cherry Blossom Tea will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 2:30 PM at the Marshfield Community Center (110 Commercial Street). Betty Ann Bruno (Child Munchkin from the Wizard of Oz) will be the keynote tea speaker and tea will be a “Wizard of Oz” theme. Admission will be $12 per person and can be ordered online or by calling 808-345-4975. Hats are highly encouraged for this festival event.  

Route 66 Repertory Theatre Production (Thursday, April 27, 7:30 PM):

The Route 66 Repertory Theatre will present the play, “I Like Mamie” about Former First Lady Mamie Eisenhower at the Marshfield Church of the Nazarene (226 Church Street) on Thursday, April 27th at 7:30 PM. The play is a one-hour, one-woman presentation that imagines First Lady Mamie Doud Eisenhower on a campaign stop during her husband’s 1956 bid for re-election. The setting is Mamie’s birthplace, the town of Boone, Iowa, a place she visited often because of close family ties. During this stop, Mamie welcomes both old friends and strangers eager to learn more about the president—and his wife. Mamie accommodates, with a performance based on actual quotes and documented events. Tickets are $20 per person and can be ordered online or by calling 808-345-4975

Laura Ingalls Wilder Breakfast (Friday, April 28, 8 AM):

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum hosts, “Nellie’s Breakfast”-benefitting the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children’s Literature Festival on Friday, April 28th at 8 AM. Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson, Little House on the Prairie) will interview Hersha Parady (Alice Garvey, Little House on the Prairie). The breakfast will be held at the Marshfield Assembly of God (1538 W. Washington) and tickets are $25 per person. They can be purchased online or by calling 417-924-3626 or 808-345-4975.

Wilson’s Creek Battlefield Luncheon (Friday, April 28, 12:30 PM)

A luncheon benefitting the Wilson’s Creek Battlefield Foundation will be held on Friday, April 28th at 12:30 PM at the Marshfield Assembly of God (1538 W. Washington). Speakers will be descendants of three United States presidents: Margaret Hayes Clark, Jay Garfield and Massee McKinley. They will be interviewed on stage by Dr. Bill Piston (noted Civil War historian). Hubble Dinner (Friday, April 28, 6:30 PM):

This is the annual dinner where Marshfield’s highest honor is presented, The Edwin P. Hubble Medal of Initiative. The dinner will be held on Friday, April 28th at 6:30 PM at the Marshfield Assembly of God (1538 W. Washington). The dinner will honor Jerry Mathers (Beaver Cleaver, Leave it to Beaver), Gayla Peevey (singer), Jack Hamlin (D-Day Survivor), Johnny Whitaker (actor) and Margaret Clark (great granddaughter of President Rutherford B. Hayes).  Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased online or by calling 417-860-4996.

Rosalynn Carter Luncheon (Saturday, April 29, Noon):

The 2nd annual luncheon benefitting the Rosalynn Carter Childhood Garden of Plains, Georgia on Saturday, April 29th at noon at the Marshfield Assembly of God (1538 W. Washington). This luncheon further celebrates the Cherry Blossom Festival’s sister festival relationship with the Peanut Festival in Plains. James Carter (grandson of President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter) will be interviewed as part of the program for the luncheon. The fried chicken luncheon will reflect a southern menu. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased online at

State Dinner (Saturday, April 29, 7 PM):

The 13th annual State Dinner will feature Paul Burrell as the keynote speaker. Paul worked for many years in Buckingham Palace and served as Butler to the late Princess Diana. He will be speaking about Queen Elizabeth II and his time in Royal service. This annual dinner will be held at the Marshfield Community Center (110 Commercial Street) on Saturday, April 29th at 7 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM). Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased online or by calling 417-860-4996. This is a pink tie event.
